Geostatistical
interpolation of abiotic site conditions in the Netherlands; A method for reference mapping.
Reference maps for moisture, acidity/alkalinity, nitrogen and salinity conditions were obtained on the basis
of related Ellenberg F, R, N and S values averaged from plant species present in field samples. Actual and
historical data were interpolated to illustrate the actual and historical abiotic situations in the
Netherlands.This method allows us to produce unbiased estimates with their respective estimation errors at
different geographical scales.

MOVE, nationaal model voor
de vegetatie, versie 3.
De kans op voorkomen van ca. 900 plantensoorten als functie van 7 omgevingsvariabelen. Als onderdeel van het
decision support system De Natuurplanner wordt het vegetatiemodel MOVE primair ingezet voor nationale
verkenningen. MOVE voorspelt de kans op voorkomen van plantensoorten als functie van omgevingsvariabelen. De
responsfuncties van MOVE 2 gebruiken vermesting, verzuring en verdroging als verklarende factoren. Deze studie
breidt het model uit met variabelen op het gebied van vegetatiestructuur, zware metalen, saliniteit en
regio-verschillen.

Natuurwaarde per
ecosysteem (Natuurcompendium).
De ontwikkeling per ecosysteem, met onderscheid in duinen, heide, moeras, bos, agrarisch gebied, stedelijk
gebied, zoetwater, getijdengebied en Noordzee.De graadmeter Natuurwaarde geeft een landelijk overzicht van de
veranderingen in kwaliteit en oppervlakte in de afgelopen eeuw voor de verschillende ecosysteem

Natuurwaardering in de
Natuurplanner (RIVM).
De natuurwaarderingsmodule BIODIV in de Natuurplanner wordt uitgewerkt, geanalyseerd en toegepast voor het
beoordelen van verschillende scenario's in de VIJfde Nota ruimtelijke Ordening (VIJNO). De natuurwaardering
gaat volgens de Ecologisch Kapitaal Index (EKI)-methode. Hier wordt de natuurwaarde van een regio berekend als
het product van ecosysteemkwantiteit (areaal) en ecosysteemkwaliteit.

RIZA Project /
Rijkswateren-ecotopen-stelsels.
Als instrument voor de planvorming, de inrichting en de evaluatie van beleid en maatregelen heeft RIZA voor de
grote watersystemen in Nederland de Rijkswateren-Ecotopen-Stelsels (RWES) ontwikkeld. Deze tekst geeft een
overzicht van de aard en de gebruiksmogelijkheden van dit classificatiesysteem van Rijkswaterstaat.
Ecotopenkaarten kunnen on-line worden bekeken.

Soorten/habitats (LNV).
Een overzicht van de soorten en habitats die door de Vogelrichtlijn en Habitatrichtlijn worden beschermd en
die in Nederland in het wild voorkomen. Voor een beschrijving van de habitattypen en soorten van de

SynBioSys Europe.
SynBioSys Europe, an initiative of the European Vegetation Survey, is an information system for the evaluation
and management of biodiversity among plant species, vegetation types and landscapes. The project is
coordinated from Alterra at Wageningen, in The Netherlands, and will function as a network of distributed
databases related through a web-server. It incorporates a GIS platform for the visualisation of layers of
information on plant species, vegetation and landscape data, and offers the possibility to identify vegetation
types and to analyse the patterns and processes which relate them to plant species, and landscape types. The
expert system will enhance the capacity of European nature and environment agencies to participate in the
management and interpretation of information on species, vegetation and landscape both at a national and at a
European scale.

Biologische Waarderingskaart &
Ecotooptypologie.
Een uniforme inventarisatie en evaluatie van het Vlaamse gewest en een landschaps-ecologische analyse van het
gebied. De inventarisatie betreft grondgebruik, plantengroei en kleine landschapselementen. De evaluatie lomt
trot een biologische waardering. De landschapsecologische analyse van het gebied omvat reliëf, bodem,
landschap, waterlopen, ondergrond, plantengroei/dieren. De bestanden van de BWK kunnen worden gedownload.

International Cooperative Programme on Effects of
Air Pollution on Natural Vegetation and Crops.
The ICP Vegetation is an international programme investigating the impacts of pollutants, primarily ozone, on
crops and natural vegetation in Europe and North-America. Accumulation of heavy metals following the
deposition of particulates on to vegetation is also being considered.

Millenium Ecosystem Assessment
Synthesis Report.
A landmark study released March 30, 2005, reveals that approximately 60 percent of the ecosystem services that
support life on Earth - such as fresh water, capture fisheries, air and water regulation, and the regulation
of regional climate, natural hazards and pests - are being degraded or used unsustainably. Scientists warn
that the harmful consequences of this degradation could grow significantly worse in the next 50 years.
